Srila Gour Govinda Swami.

Thus seeing his brilliant translation and being pleased with his simple devotional personality, when H.D.G Srila Prabhupada came to know from the conversation that the self named Gour Gopal had not taken sannyasa, at that time, voluntarily and spontaneously Srila Prabhupada declared to give him sannyasa diksa. Consequently within the succeeding 6 months, Sripad Gour Gopal had taken Harinama, Gayatri and sannyasa diksa from His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada, and came to be known as: Srila Gour Govinda Swami.

Later H.D.G Srila Prabhupada had instructed Srila Gour Govinda Swami to:

1. Proceed to Orissa and take the initiative to establish the temple of Their Lordships Sri Sri Krishna Balarama over a donated patch of Land at Bhubanesvar,

2. Translate his books into Oriya and

3. To extensively preach in the state of Orissa and outside as well.

The situation of the donated land, at that time, was not at all habitable for any human being. The land was full of wild bushes, shrubs and trees, and was filled with poisonous snakes, scorpions, mosquitoes and flies as well. It was so far from the city center by then that even during the daytime people were afraid to visit.

Meditating on the desire of Srila Prabhupada, Srila Gour Govinda Swami had worked there with unwavering determination. Even under these challenging backgrounds, Srila Gour Govinda Swami had taken all the above three instructions of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada as his very life and soul till the last breath of his great divine life.

He succeeded in translating almost all of Srila Prabhupada’s books into Oriya, and after 16 years of his determined endeavor he finally succeeded in establishing a huge ISKCON temple of Sri Sri Krishna Balarama at Bhubanesvar, in the year 1991.

He traveled and taught Krishna consciousness throughout the world bringing many people to the lotus feet of Srila Prabhupada and The Supreme Lord Sri Krishna.

Finally, he disappeared from this world while chanting the name of Gopal, in the year 1996 at Sridhama Mayapur, on the appearance day of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, and also that too during the year of the centennial birth celebration of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

This prediction of his came true.

This was the most glorious departure the whole world had ever witnessed especially at the time when His Divine Grace was narrating the deep significance of the Maha Bhava Prakasha form of Their Supreme Lordships Sri Sri Sri Jagannath, Baladev, Subhadra Devi and Sri Sudharshanji.

Also just 2 months before his departure, he had made a bold and open prediction about the appearance of Lord Caitanya’s most supremely inconceivable pastime site.

This prediction of his came true. And now by the causeless mercy of Lord Caitanya, this great supreme eternal Dandabhanga pastime site has been revealed to the world.
